Month Twenty-Two

Greetings all,

This month’s posting is a bit early, as we are leaving tomorrow for the Lone Star state. Goin’ to Austin to see the town and an old college roommate, and then to San Antonio to do the river walk, and see another old college roommate.

I missed my daily weigh-in for a few days, and then this morning’s weight was 146.5 lbs. Better go on a diet.

My early March PSA results were very good. It was ‘undetectable.’ So that’s good news on the prostate front. I get a PET scan on April 8th, then we’ll find out how the esophageal situation is doing.

I had one incident with my stomach this past month. We went to the golf club for dinner and had a big pasta meal. I ate way too much, and as we were getting ready to depart, I started generating saliva that I kept trying to swallow, and it kept gurgling up in my throat. Some folks had stopped by our table to chat, but I had to clear outta there before something bad happened. Fortunately we beat a hasty retreat and avoided an awkward scene.

Still having heart palpitations from time to time, but they go away, so I guess it’s okay. My doctor told me the heart monitor I wore last month did not uncover anything that needed attention/medication, and the erratic beat was not something to worry about (easy for him to say).

Some good news…..threw some horseshoes a couple days ago, the first time since last fall. Back then my throws were at least five feet short of the stake. The other day I got the shoes all the way to the stake!!! Strength is coming back.

Okay, that’s it. I’ll report on my PET scan next month, then go one more month to make it an even two years of blogging, and then say sayonara.

Here’s a little something written this morning in honor of Opening Day:

Beat the drums, blow the horns
Shout it from the rooftops
Watch out here we come
Pulling out all the stops.

Bum is on the mound
'Posey's got the dish
Bochy's in his swan song
The outfield makes a wish.

The infield, though, is tough
Belt on the bag, Craw to the left
Panik on the right
Now, is Longoria enough?

But lurking in the dugout
Looking lean and mean
Panda's on the top step
Rooting for his team.

Opening Day is here at last
Who knows what lies in store
We hope to start out fast
And win again once more.

  1. Hi Chris,
First of all, thanks to you and Carol for the visit. We really enjoyed our day with the two of you.
Keep the positive test results coming. You always pass the eyeball test, as you look the picture of good health both physically and in the spirit. It’s comforting, however, to hear you have passed each medical test also.
Give Rick and Jos our love, and enjoy Texas. If you have time and the inclination in San Antonio, you might check out the large cave 20 miles out of town. We really enjoyed our visit there.
    Your friend,
    Don
