Well, how about that…..it’s been a year of this blah blah blog! I’ll do just a few more weeks, till we get the prostate situation squared away.
In the meantime, weight has been good…..133.3 lbs this morning, down from a high of 134.2 yesterday. So I think I’ve broken out of the 132 plateau and am headed for higher ground! I’ll need the extra weight if we go with the surgery option for the prostate, so I’ll keep pounding down the protein drinks for a bit longer. But I am mixing in some more vegetables to get to a healthier diet, and I am able to eat more at each sitting, so there’s room for the good greens along with the high carb/calorie foods for weight gaining.
Started back driving the Care Car this past week, after a year’s absence. Then on Wednesday, I went to the Giants game with three other long-time friends, for, we figured, the 42nd consecutive year at least three of the four of us have gone to a Giants game together. Two of us took the Vallejo ferry to the SF ferry building, then muni street car to ATT park. A very pleasant trip, about an hour on the water, no hassle parking, no hassle with traffic before or after the game….very pleasant. Then we ‘tail-gated’ at the Via Hotel roof-top right across the street from the ball park. Gone are the days of barbecuing in the parking lot of Candlestick, with our beers and folding chairs, and pigeons flying all around.
We are heading to Grants Pass today for baby shower for Scott and Heidi, as we prepare for our first grandchild in August!
So that’s about it for this week. Stick with it….there won’t be too many more blog entries!
Another ditty: Lenten writing 2018 #40
Before the Vocano Erupted
Palm trees and wind chimes in the morning sun
Muffled ocean noises
Gentle chatter from unseen birds
A gecko scurries up a palm
Fronds flutter in a lonesome breeze
Shades of green, shapes of trees
All varied in the view out to sea
Where ripples of blue meet the clouds on the horizon
Clouds that puff, billow, and stretch across the morning sky
The sun splashes light along the treetops
Morning has traveled across the ocean
To greet us here on the Big Island
The young island, still growing, finding its place
On Mother Earth
This day before Easter 2018
Hi Chris,
So good to read of your continued weight gain and return to all pre cancer activities. It’s striking to me that a year has already passed since we discovered your diagnosis. Fear of the unknown it seems, has been replaced by fear of the known. Through it all your attitude has remained constant. You have faced each problem directly as it has presented, teaching us all how to best handle life’s curve balls.
You are truly my hero.
Your friend,
Don
