Greetings, to whomever is out there…
Weight still bouncing around the 127 level. I think the next surge will approach 130…really bulking up! We have been enjoying the gym and the exercise machines, and, hopefully, they will start making a big difference before too long.
Eating is still a chore. I’m very conscious of my stomach, how long it has been since I last ate, and whether I’m ready to eat again. We went to a party last night where I had a ginger beer and all sorts of hors d’oeuvres. Munchies don’t stack up very well compared to a full meal, and I lost a little bit of weight at this morning’s weigh-in.
I saw the doctor this week for the PET scan results, and the news is good: no sign of any esophageal cancer! But I’ll have to sweat it out for the next couple of years…that’s a critical time period to get past and still be ‘clean.’ So I’ll be getting PET scans every 6 months for at least the next two years to make sure all is well.
I also got the MRI report last week on my prostate. My urologist has been out of the office for a few days, so I wasn’t able to talk to her about the MRI results. The report has some scary verbiage in it that I need to get clarified. Until I talk to her, hopefully next week, I will be a bit nervous.
So, that’s about it…..weight stable, ready to surge again. Getting to the gym four days a week, feeling better, (still falling asleep during the day, however). No golf this week…rainy weather. Maybe this afternoon.
In closing, here’s a little poem about memory…..
Let Me Introduce You
I forget your name
I’ve known you for a long time
We always speak, we always wave
We’ve had a few beers together
On more than one occasion.
I know how many kids you have
I know your wife’s name
Where you’re from’
Where you live, where you work.
Here’s a friend of mine I want you to meet
He’s right here
His name is Joe.
And it’s quite clear the polite thing to do
Is to introduce the two of you
It would be awkward not to
But I’ve forgotten your name.
So I say to you,
“Hey, I’d like you to meet a friend of mine.”
“His name is Joe.”
Hi Chris,
Awwwrrrright! I must admit as each day passed after Wednesday without word, My paranoia racheted up a notch. But Im delighted with your clean bill of health re-esophagus cancer. 3 years disease free has been ordered, and will be arriving right on time. I know there are many challenges ahead, but you seem very good at facing challenges. In the meantime, good news is Great News!
We are headed to Italy Monday with the Solari’s and will raise a glass to your continued good health.
Your friend,
Don
Hey Don, ol’ buddy,
Thanks for your week-in and week-out support! I thought I was about to wrap this whole thing up, but got one more hurdle….going for a ‘MRI-directed’ biopsy at UCSF in very near future. The last report said there was ‘clinically significant’ cancer present…..not sure what that means. In the meantime, we’re going to Hawaii next week. Enjoy your time in Italy, say hello to the Solari’s. We’ll be back on line in couple weeks.
Chris
Some welcome good news there, Chris. Glad to hear you’re putting in my gym time; saves me so much time. Thanks for that. Play more golf. It’s good for both body and soul. Thinking positive thoughts for you; perhaps you feel the vibe. All best wishes.
Warm regards,
Mac
Thanks Mac,
Feeling good, getting stronger, now I got one more hurdle to get over that was just put on the track….prostate cancer is looming large and I need to go to UCSF for a ‘MRI-directed’ biopsy. If it’s not one thing, it’s another!
Chris
